Monday 7/2/12: Black Breath // Martyrdod // Burning Love // Enabler // Dead in the Dirt

Kings Barcade, $10, 7:00PM, all ages

If you are looking for the show of the season, this is definitely the one. Black Breath is one of those bands that never cease to be thoroughly incredible. Reminds me if the guys from Darkthrone and Sepultura got together and started a hardcore punk band in the thrash era. Martyrdod is a band that has been sitting on my record player for a few months now, and wow, their In Extremis LP is one of the best records I've heard in a while. It's as if Totalitar got together and attempted to play black metal. Burning Love from Toronto draw in members of Left for Dead, Cursed, and The Swarm to start something that sounds nothing like any of those bands, which turns into a sound reminiscent of Hot Snakes or Cloak/Dagger. Very interesting. Dead in the Dirt is the secret weapon of the show, playing grindcore the way it should be done, and Enabler is not to be missed for all you people, like myself, who like metal and hardcore blended, yet really hate metalcore.
